Now that we're in the homestretch for the interactive spy novel There's Always a Madman: Bring the Thunder (Steam page here) releasing July 7, 2025, here is a character profile for a key character in the game, the henchwoman Dr. Winters.

Name: Dr. Hailey Winters

Summary: Dr. Winters is a key cog in Zeus plan.  Along with her peer Dr. Summers, they are building a weather machine with destructive capabilities.  To this point, such a device had seemed an impossibility - or at least a long ways off - but now that future is nearly here.

Expertise: Dr. Winters is a former TV weathergirl who worked hard to earn her PhD in meteorology.  Fed up with a glass ceiling, she has likely found a way to shatter that obstruction by joining Zeus' team.  If she is able to build this weather machine, then she will have incontrovertible proof that she is not just some weathergirl.  Perhaps she is doing this for herself or perhaps she is doing this for all woman who have to deal with their own glass ceiling, but whatever her reasons, this weather machine must be stopped.

Shortcomings: Though she is determined, Dr. Winters is still young and naive in the ways of the world compared to her elder colleague, Dr. Summers.  She likely does not fully comprehend the repercussions of building this device.  In the right hands, a machine that controls the weather can do great things for mankind - eradicating droughts, blizzards, hurricanes, and more - but in the wrong hands, well - the sky's the limit.  We suspect she is driven by short-term goals without having considered the long-term impacts that this machine can do in Zeus' control.

Final Verdict: A bright, driven scientist, Dr. Winters is more capable than others have given her credit for.  Zeus has identified this and nurtured her potential for his own gains.  If we can somehow get to Dr. Winters, she may just be the key to stopping Zeus and this infernal doomsday device.
