Now that we're in the homestretch for the interactive spy novel There's Always a Madman: Bring the Thunder (Steam page here) releasing July 7, 2025, here is a character profile for a key character in the game, the henchman Dr. Summers.

Name: Dr. Ray Summers

Summary: Until recently, Dr. Summers had been hard at work on a government project.  We don't know exactly what he had been doing or why he suddenly vanished, but we can be sure that the two events are connected.  For now, we suspect that Dr. Summers was taken against his will and forced to build this weather machine for Zeus, but be ready for any possibility on this case.

Expertise: Dr. Summers holds a PhD in meteorology and had been the project lead for a classified government undertaking.  We do not have access to the details of that project, but logic dictates that it was weather-related and Zeus sought our Dr. Summers for his expertise in that area.  With decades of research under his belt, there is perhaps nobody in the entire world better suited for this work.

Shortcomings: It is possible that Dr. Summers is conducting this work against his will.   If so, he could delay or even sabotage the project from within.  However, we must not rule out that he is complicit in this scheme, whether due to promised riches, elimination of bureaucratic red tape, or any other enticement.   Regardless, he has years of dedicated service under his belt, and that may be something we can use in some fashion.

Final Verdict: Dr. Summers has been - and perhaps still is - a dedicated public servant.  He likely has unmatched expertise in the weather arena, and his knowledge has been commandeered by the madman Zeus.  If possible, it would be best to return Dr. Summers unharmed so he can continue his government research.  But if push comes to shove, even he would be an acceptable loss in this scenario.  Do with that what you will.
