It's now under two months until the release of the spy thriller interactive novel There's Always a Madman: Fight or Flight (Steam page here) on March 22, 2024.  As a result, I will be counting down the final stretch with a new character dossier each week.

First up is the main character you'll be playing as in There's Always a Madman: Fight or Flight - Franklin Benjamin.

Agent name: Franklin Benjamin

Title: Field Agent

Unofficial codename: Agent 707

Experience: 10 years

Summary: Franklin Benjamin is our top field agent, without question.  His movie star good looks and immeasurable charm can turn anyone into thinking he's their closest confidante in a matter of minutes.  Even when the world teeters on the brink of total annihilation, Franklin Benjamin has an unwavering belief that he'll come out on top.  And he always does.

Expertise: Handles himself well in a gunfight, fistfight, or any other altercation imaginable.  Has a sharp mind and a sharp tongue capable of putting his opponent off balance before the encounter even turns physical.  But where he shines best is in talking his way out of a fight altogether.  Supremely capable at getting an adversary to slip up and reveal information they didn't want to share, whether by bluffing his way to an advantageous negotiating position or by feigning he's out of his depths in verbal sparring, only to unexpectedly turn the tables at the most opportune moment.

Shortcomings: Not one for listening.  Or following orders.  Or even paying attention to details.  He's more of a big picture guy who can at times coast by on people skills.  In ten years, he's never failed a mission once, and that has perhaps made him overconfident.  But that arrogance hasn't caught up with him yet, and hopefully, it never will.

Final verdict: Approved for field duty.  Deploy when the stakes are highest and failure is not an option.
