Where to follow A Weekend in Puzzleburg (and other indie games) off of Twitter
·As it seems that Twitter may be on its last legs, I figured I should do a write-up of where else you can follow the progress of A Weekend in Puzzleburg (and future games from Sunny Demeanor Games). Hopefully, this can also serve as a useful guide for keeping up with any other indie games you may be interested in. Here are each of the alternative ways you can keep up on A Weekend in Puzzleburg should Twitter actually go kaput:
- Bookmark the weekly blog - you're already reading this blog post right now, so why not bookmark the blog https://sunnydemeanorgames.com/news as a whole. I write a new update each week, and this is the first place I go to share any announcements or work-in-progress updates with the fans
- Sign up for the email list - get updates directly to your email's inbox by signing up here www.SunnyDemeanorGames.com
- Follow on Steam - if you're going to do any single activity on this list, this is the best general one to do for any game you're interested in. On Steam, the "follow" button is right next to the "wishlist" button, so it could not be simpler. While wishlisting is of course great, that only notifies you when the game launches or when the game is at least 20% post-launch. If you want to actually be notified when there are updates to the game, then following is the way to go. Sometimes you just want to know when the developer has news to share - in the case of A Weekend in Puzzleburg, I've put out Steam updates when the demo was released, when I announced the game would be in Steam Next Fest, when I put new functionality in the demo, when I announced the release date, and when I announced the price (plus launch discount). That's all before I've even released the game, which comes out in three months. By following, you essentially get the biggest announcements from the blog, and it's right where you'll be playing the game, of course
- Subscribe on YouTube - this is where all the trailers and developer playthroughs go, so if you just want to see the game in action, this is your best bet. In the case of A Weekend in Puzzleburg, I already have put out two trailers and one developer playthrough. Since this is a company YouTube channel, you'll also get trailers and playthroughs for any future games from Sunny Demeanor Games as an added bonus
- Follow on Reddit - As you can probably tell from my blogging, I have a fondness for providing updates in long-form text, and Reddit is a pretty good social media for that, I've found. I tend to post on Reddit at least monthly, so following Sunny Demeanor Games on Reddit wouldn't be the worst way to get updates. I will say that I don't know how widely used Reddit's follow functionality is used, and I don't use it much myself, so I leave it up to you to decide if this would be the right solution for you
- Mastodon - I haven't tried this social media site, but it seems like other indie developers are giving it a try, so something to be aware of, I suppose
That is how I see things right now. Hopefully, Twitter sticks around, but just in case it goes away, these are the best options I see for how to stay up-to-date with A Weekend in Puzzleburg and Sunny Demeanor Games in general. And this probably goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway - feel free to leverage more than one option listed above, of course.
I hope you pick up A Weekend in Puzzleburg when the game releases on Friday February 17, 2023. In the meantime, please wishlist and try out the free demo on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1929760/A_Weekend_in_Puzzleburg
